Bed Base Recommendation 🍁Updated 3 hours ago
Choosing the Right Bed Base for Your Polysleep Mattress
Selecting the proper bed base is an important factor in ensuring comfort, support, airflow, and even the validity of your mattress warranty. Here is a guide to the most common bed bases and how they interact with Polysleep mattresses:
1. Slatted Base
The slatted bed base is the most common type and works very well with Polysleep mattresses because it promotes airflow, helping your mattress stay fresh.
Considerations:
Slats must be at least 3 inches apart and 2 inches wide to meet our warranty requirements. If your slats do not meet these specifications, any mattress sagging could void your warranty.
Tip: Encased slats (like the Polysleep Foundation) prevent sagging entirely, so these requirements do not apply.
2. Platform Base
Platform bases are compatible with foam mattresses under certain conditions:
The wood must be porous and unfinished. Lacquered or sealed wood traps moisture, which could lead to mold and void the warranty.
Platform bases should be placed in well-ventilated rooms. They are not recommended for basements or very humid areas.
Platform bases retain more heat than slatted bases, so they may not be ideal for hot sleepers.
When rotating your mattress (every 6 months), lift it entirely to check that the space underneath is clean and dry.
3. Adjustable Base
All Polysleep mattresses are compatible with adjustable (electric) bases.
Zephyr Mattress: Specifically designed for adjustable bases, featuring cuts underneath that allow the mattress to move seamlessly with the base.
Other Polysleep Mattresses: Compatible, but they should be returned to a flat position before getting out of bed to maintain proper support.
Warranty: Fully valid when used with adjustable bases.
4. Box Spring or Foundation (with or without Bed Frames)
Some traditional or luxury bed frames require a box spring or foundation. You can also use a box spring or foundation alone for a minimalistic setup.
Polysleep Foundation: Ideal for all Polysleep mattresses.
Compatibility: Our mattresses work with all standard box springs or foundations.
Warranty: Always valid when used with a box spring or foundation.
Key Takeaway:
Choosing the right base enhances your mattress’s comfort, longevity, and warranty coverage. For optimal support and airflow, we recommend the Polysleep Foundation or a proper slatted base, but all other compatible bases can also be used responsibly.
